Trench

I should never mix redbull and berocca, I know I shouldn’t but I cannot help but get carried away. But then, like now I feel high… and I am going to have to make this a quickie.

A trench or any kind of coat of this caliber is always a MUST HAVE, it really doesn’t even matter that it is summer, this is the kind of coat you can work anywhere at anytime. It is a lot to do with what goes underneath, and even in summer you have those cool nights spent out on the town, that can get instantly cold as you teeter home on 6inch heels at 4am – not that I would know anything about that , usually I take my shoes off :P.

The coat is brand spanking new from DeLa and as usual just gorgeous, coming in a variety of colours that just work your inventory perfectly. The dress I am wearing with I have had to blog for months – argh – I have lost and refound it now three times, but this week I anchored it down so I wouldn’t lose it again.

The style is pure sexy, with the slightly rounded sides and a thin line going up the sides. The gathered effect is just great, and there are lots of layer options, even including bustier and panties, and trust me these are ALMOST the tiniest panties I have ever seen. But the fun part is in the fact that there is a ‘hot’ version of the top as in it comes down lower and reveals what you will never see lol.

But what I love about that, with it coming on all layers, you can combine different colours to get different contrast looking dresses, as shown on the right, by combining the undershirt layer in the red with the shirt layer in the ‘hot’ black I got another whole dress, and if I did the same in reverse, again another whole dress…so if you buy two you get four.

The hair I am wearing is a new style by Tiny Bird, have you seen the most adorable packs they have of hair now, the full colour range pack comes as a nest you hold, and each individual pack is eggs you click on. SO perfect for those that want all, but don’t want to unpack all at once. The new textures are just great, and this style is as are the other new ones, perfect for those girly days.

I have to admit if I was teetering home on these shoes, I would try very hard not to take them off, because they is sexxxxxy with their fringeynessness and all the others bits and pieces that make them a wonderful going out heel to have.

Ok thats me out, I am starting to sway as I type. Bouncesssssss to B.B.B.Bed  lol the aussies will get that. I always type way too much when I saw it’s a quickee lol.

Phaylen is making me laugh while I am writing this post back and forth, so bare with me, I could completely lose my train of thought lol.

The weather is changing so much at the moment, both down here and over there. It can be difficult to even think of what to wear, whether you wear something just because, or you go all out to try and match the season.

This style dress I think every woman at one stage in their lives owns, in one form or another. Ok maybe not EVERY woman, but I swear in my life it has come and gone, and come and gone again at least 5 times and I’m ONLY 37.

Sofia ♥ told me that Mirai had new hair the other day, and we have been waiting for ages for a release from there, and it was BIG HAIR , which we love. The style reminded her of Tina Turner, so not only did Tina songs keep popping up on my Janga, but I ended up dreaming about her too, I seriously am so easily dream manipulated it is scary.

While there getting the big hair with headband that is just gorgeous, I picked up equally gorgeous cornrows style Lams, which I have been wearing mostly since…looks fantastic with a skin and hairbase, but if you do not have one the lovely Autumn of Tiny Bird set out some free ones to wear on tattoo layer in her store.

Mel is such an Xstreet shopper, while I am usually yacking on about something or rather, he is nodding and making appropriate listening noises to me, and then drop down – or pop up depends on viewer – happens, and I realise he has been cruising Xstreet again.

This happened again a few weeks back , which then of course lead us to a store visit. I had not been to Son!a in the past, and then funnily enough it came up in group chat a week later, so was bound to learn about them one way or another.

The store has demos for their larger ticket items, and honestly if you don’t try on the wedding gown with doves you haven’t fulfilled your Cinderella fantasy yet. The clubby style dress is from there, and wow that texture is so authentic looking. Warning though it has a bling tie at the back , which I promptly removed lol.

The top in the last pic is the one that Mel bought me on xstreet that lead to the trip, it is so lovely and so well made even the under ruffle parts have perfectly drawn glitch, so even if it sinks into you, you still have the original effect.

The jewerly in the second pic is the POW set from Shade Throne and so reminds me of clubbing in the past, my friends and I used to have a particular dance we did that automatically cleared the area for us, such naughty girls we were lol.

The babydoll top I am wearing with the everyday jeans from Doppelganger , I love that store name, it is like by trying to avoid naming their store like everyone else, they allude to being like others that just cracks me up. Newish shoes by Ingenue are all girly girl with a not overly high heel, perfect for more girly girl looks and for those business meetings you may have.

The skin I am wearing is Sheva by UnBra , the skins face is charmingly latino looking on my shape, and I just love the make ups available. Smoldering eyes and fun lips, the body is the same as the previous UnBra skin I showed, so that you get all those push up options, as well as hair base options which are dark and great for pulled back hairstyles.

Make sure you check out the demos asap.

AO Tutorial – Second Life (Animation Over-rider)
Sasy Scarborough

This is how I make my AO’s and how I have guided others in the past. This tutorial was supposed to have been done ages ago, but I could never get around to it until now.

The new VR Studio has made it an even easier method now with the new libraries, as in the past I would have had to do so with lots of stands. This is how I do it… and is just a suggestion as to how you can make your own unique to you AO by combining the animations and existing AO’s you may already have.

* Firstly rez all the AO’s you have in your inventory. see pic 1

Get all your ao's together to unpack

As you may know already I love to shoot AO’s for fashion posts etc, so I have a lot of them as sometimes it can be financially viable to buy an ao and get lots of pics out of one animation, than to buy single poses.

* Unpack all the AO’s you have now rezzed on the ground. see pic 2

Unpacking an AO

ANYTHING that is prim that contains items, whether animations/poses, other prims, scripts etc can be unpacked just like a regular box. I have come across confusion on this in the past with customers.

* Drag a NEW and Empty Zhao II to the floor and unpack it to get an empty DEFAULT notecard (delete that Zhao II once you unpack it ) open the notecard so you can see what you will need to collect. See pic 3

Zhao Default Notecard

* With each type of animation needed, type in inventory and gather all the animations that come up under that category by using ctrl and left clicking. Then drag those animation into a posestand. See pic 4

Load your animations

(or in my case the VR Studio individual posestand Libraries – one for each animation type just drag and drop.)

Once you have all of the animations you have unpacked, sorted into stands – or libraries – you can then begin the fun stuff.

* Rez an EMPTY and NEW Zhao II AO to the floor in front of you  (in edit mode rename the AO to something you will remember like Your Name AO 2010). see pic 5

Rez New Zhao EMPTY

* Check that you have all your necessary animations , check Default notecard if you need to – I have rezzed a backdrop so you can see each library has a different category for an AO. see pic 6

showing all categories in libraries

(all the VR Studio libraries go back into the posestand once I choose which one I want, or I can choose from the HUD, I just wanted you to see I was doing it along with you lol )

* Open your Default Notecard and get on the stand containing the first option, in this case Stands

For me this gets easier, as the VR studio has the pose info not only on the stand itself, but also the HUD if you have that as well.

* Go to the Zhao folder and copy and paste the Default notecard and name it something Unique to you , in this case I will choose Work as I like to have a more sedate AO for business meetings , also very important if you do any type of customer service. see pic 7

renamed notecard

* start searching through your stands for ones that are what you feel would be good for a work style AO – this may vary dependent on the style of work you do. You will need 5 stands.

As you find the ones you want, open them using properties from your inventory folder, making sure that the names are exactly the same as the one you choose. See pic 8

Find the exact animation in your inventory and open properties

* Open your ‘work’ – or whatever type of AO you want to make – notecard and highlight the name of the pose from the properties box – this is really important and the only sure way you will get the absolute correct spelling of the animation as the card and animation must be exactly the same. see pic 9

Highlight the name of the pose in properties box

* Use ctrl C to copy the name as it is highlighted, and then use ctrl V to paste it onto the line of the notecard where it says standing ( make sure and save each time you do this in case of a crash ) . see pic 10

Paste exact name to your notecard

* You can then do this four more times, once you pick four more animation stands you like .

IMPORTANT : between each animation you must use the | with no spaces. I have found over the years that it is the | that confuses people, as it is not a bracket. To be extra sure you have the exact right button from your keyboard I have put a red dot on it . So hold down shift and press that button between animations when doing more than one.see pic 11

Keyboard

Example : [ Standing ]CCBirdGirlStand01.4|dz435-Stand.N

* As you collect each stand or animation going down the card to fill it all in, you can drag and drop the animation from your inventory into the Zhao II you have rezzed on the ground in front of you .

It is advisable to NOT use no copy animations for an AO based purely on the ability to have a back up copy, but sometimes they can be so cute you cannot resist…in this case I reccommend doing a second AO by taking a copy once finished with all the copy poses using something else in the place of the cute , and then taking a copy and making one with the cute, this way if lost you still have most of your work safe. see pic 12

Drag and Drop animations in as you choose them

*Moving on to walking, because of the interface of the Zhao II you can scroll between walks , sits etc at any time. So you can put in more than one in each category if that is preferred. Sometimes changing your walk is a lot more enjoyable in an AO. Also as there is a Sit anywhere function in this Zhao II which I love, making sure you have a variety of sits for it is good, it will pull from your ground sits line.

You would either change stands, or choose the library you put the walks in, and continue from there. I get to stay put yay.

* Once you have your notecard filled the way you like it, you can then save it for the last time. see pic 13

Filled Work Notecard

* Drag and drop the notecard from your inventory into the rezzed Zhao II on the floor, and then take it back into your inventory. see pic 14

Filled AO with Notecard inside

* Right click and attach to HUD , it defaults to bottom left, but I prefer bottom right myself. Then click on the button indicated and a drop down will appear asking you which notecard to load…this is so that the hud is aware of your choice of AO at that moment. see pic 15

Load notecard

That is where it can get even more fun, or at least overly organised. There is no need to have seperate AO’s you have to find and attach at different times. Due to the scripting of the Zhao II you can fill it with many animations and settings notecards and then swap between them at the click of a button.

So if you don’t want to change or choose, you can just unpack and repack all into one as I did with some other AO’s that all used the Zhao II system already.
All I had to do was unpack and drag all animations and notecards into the one, and the scripts did the rest. ( make sure you don’t drag the scripts from one to another, as it will cause errors ).

Now all I have to do is leave my VR Studio stand in a safe place, and I can add to the libraries as I go, and any time I feel like a change of AO I am prepared.

I really hope this helped some confusion with how to do this, I have helped many in the past with work or friends, and I think once you get the hang of it it can be fun to play with often.

Where to get your free Zhao II kit to make your own AO

For this example I used the ZHAO-II MB2.0.16[modern] MONO option as there is more than one in the folder you get from Grays.

VR Studio can be found at VR Foundry Main , or VR Foundry @ The Deck for the non age verified :P.

Viewer 2
Sasy Scarborough

STOP and Breathe, it really will be ok.

Today marks the day many have been waiting for, Second Life Viewer 2.0 – or whatever version they end up releasing, either way it will start with a 2.

I am really not entirely sure where to start with this post, but I did want to try and help out a little in the understanding of the new viewer.

For me the first place I needed to go was inventory, and this will take some getting used to. But lets try and visit as much as we can, it really is a whole new world.

Picture One
First Picture :

Sidebar:

Home Tab:

This is going to be more useful for New Residents, but also handy to have some of the major website links used for Second Life on hand in your viewer.

* Destination Guide : Listings for Hot Spots and Popular Places around the Grid.

* World Map : An easier reference to the World Map with easy interface.

* My Appearance : This takes you to Appearance Editor – not to be confused with Appearance Mode. With two tabs for My Oufits and Worn – we will go into that in a sec.

* My Dashboard : A short cut in world to your accounts pages on the Main Website. You will still have to sign in, but it will help people get a better understanding of how their account info is handled.

* Quick Start Guide : takes you to the Second Life Wiki Pages.

Profile Tab :

This is everything that your regular profile has. Though things have been moved around and are more in your face than in the past.

You have your Second Life picture at the top, with description beside it as would be your first page on regular profile. Then directly under it is your Real World picture and info, so there is no getting around see the both of those together.

Also includes a ‘homepage’ area for your websites , xstreet page etc…having this easier to access than from previous webtab page.

Partner name is directly under that and is clickable to visit their profile. The one startling thing about this viewer is that profiles are not separate boxes, that means no more minimising a profile to save for a few hours later to shop etc.

It also makes sending multiple people items complicated as you do need to open a second inventory to pull from. If you find that you do not have a picks tab when using Profile, then either right click your body and select my profile that way, or press the save changes button at the bottom of your profile to kick it into place.

People Tab :

*Nearby : Shows all avatars in your immediate area.

* My Friends : Shows your full friends list, broken up into Online and All. The thing to look out for in this is that deleting calling cards CAN remove from Friends List, so be very wary of doing that, even if you have doubles.

* My Groups : Is your full list of groups you are part of. You have the option to click on the info button for a quick highlight where you can leave the group, or you can click the arrow for full info box broken up into drop downs.

* Recent : Recent is a list of people you have been in contact with.

Places Tab :

* My Landmarks :

Favourites Folder - this is the place to store all your most used landmarks, the ones that you put in this folder will appear along the top of your screen as easy access to tp from them without having to go to find them.

My Landmarks - all the landmarks you make or get sent for places you wish to return to or visit.

* Teleport History : LM’s you can reuse to visit places you have visited even if you didn’t make a landmark for it, they are broken up into today, yesterday and so on.

Second Picture (inventory)

Second Picture :

Inventory Tab :

*My Inventory : New folders are Current Outfit and My Outfits.

**Current Outfit : this is a different take on the worn tab of other viewers. Will show all items of clothing and attachments that you have on your person.

** My Outfits : In thepast if you made an outfit using appearance mode it would ask you what you wished to keep, and then would make copies of those items and throw them in your clothing folder. If the items you were wearing were no copy they would move them to this new folder and you would have a hell of a time trying to get them back to where they belonged.

NO MORE DRAMA …this is one of the most awesome NEW features of this Viewer.

Items that are gathered in the My Outfit folder now LINK to their originals, so that means if you make an outfit of mix and match items, and through out the look are a few pieces that are NO COPY, it will not matter, you do not have to worry, because none of the items actually move from their original place.

All the items that are in the My Outfits folders are just Links that you can click on to zoom your mouse to the original folder. Just like an imbedded link in a website, so now you can make as many looks as you like and not effect your inventory count, or your permissions at all.

This system is perfect for Models, Fashion bloggers and Business owners wanting to put together looks for vendor ads etc, and just everyone that likes to organise their inventory in a way that is a complete fashion look you have loved so much but never wanted to move your favourite belt from its original location in case you can’t find it for another outfit.

* Recent Tab : This shows all items that have come to you, or been changed since your last log in, that may vary due to your filters, but it isn’t much different than the regular viewer recent tab.

IMPORTANT : The dropdowns at the top of your Inventory are relatively the same with ONE MAJOR Exception.

UPLOAD has now moved to Inventory folder. All your upload functions are now in this area, so if you want to bring a picture, sound file, animation into world you will have to do it from the FILE menu in inventory.

My Appearance Tab :

* My Outfits : as already mentioned above , the folder also has a tab function of its own.

*Wearing : is the tab similar to current, showing you all the items you have on your person or hud attachments. Again these are just links to the originals.
Third Picture (notices)

Third Picture :

Notices, IM’s and Teleports:

The way we are used to receiving notices, and items is a thing of the past with this viewer and many of you will struggle with it. It will take practice but for many that hated the whole blue dropdowns way that interrupted building etc, this will be ideal.

On the far right at the bottom you will see an envelope and a voice bubble icon. These are your indicators of incoming items, notices, and IM’s.

This can be daunting because of the fear of losing something sent, but practice makes perfect.

To recieve an item you need to click the envelope and then click on the box/window that comes up. This will give you anything sent.

In the case of notices from groups, you will need to double left click the notice to get any LM’s or notecards.

If objects are sent a box will appear on the left of those icons, again clicking on them will give you the option to accept them. My problems with this have been that you may not see them for a very long time, as a drop down is a lot more noticeable. The IMs do make a noise.

Teleports also hide down there, so if someone sends you one hopefully they will let you know lol.

Notice also that an image appears showing you who is IMing you before you open it. So if you are familiar with the profile pics of close friends etc, you will know straight away.

Chat Bar and IM:

The far left chat bar is difficult for me personally to deal with, but there is a fix for that.

If you go to your Viewer folder on your hard drive and then click on the Skins folder, then the Default folder, then the XUI folder, then the EN Folder and find the XML file  called panel_nearby_chat_bar.xml right click and open it with notepad and then increase the value of max_width -  I changed mine to 1500 (thank you Psi)

Fourth Picture

Fourth Picture:

I have come back after a relog to show you the larger chat bar, but also an example of how chat appears now also, every single thing you type will not include your profile pic, including IM’s and GROUP CHAT. Chat also stacks together if you keep writing and enter without someone putting text in between.

Now for what you have all been waiting. Have you noticed my clue yet ? those of you who know skins well will have noticed by now I would imagine. It is what many of us older residents have been begging for for years, and it is finally one of TWO new features for Second Life avatars.

I guess having the pic up means you probably didn’t read a word I just said lol. But yes it is finally here, Tattoo layers on all the mesh.

Just so you knew I wasn’t playing tricks on you, here it is on the head portion of the mesh. I made this masque a year or so ago for an event on an Eloh mod I did. I was so happy that I still had it in layers form to show you how wonderful this new feature will be.

Sixth Picture (tattoo)

Fifth Picture :

Tattoo Layers :I can just imagine I lost everyone then, this ability is going to open a whole new world in design, not only the possibility of tattoos, but make up options for skin makers to do as seperates, or even other creators to do as collabs or solo. The Costume and Fetish industry have been long awaiting the ability to hood the head so to speak. That is possible now as you will be able to wear these over your favourite skin, not buy something that comes on a skin layer with a mod, or someone elses skin style.

The other incredible new feature, and again this is going to do a whole lot for the RP and lifestyle avatars.Seventh Picture (alpha)

Sixth Picture :

Alpha layers: again a much sought after item, allowing for no more scripts and animations to shrink down a mesh body inside of a prim avatar. I personally love this, because I always get all freaked out when Fia lags and his body inside of his dragon avatar is all stretched and mishapen, makes me sad he looks hurt.

Not only will this help creators of RP and Prim avatars, but it will also mean with some Photoshop practice that you will be able to manipulate the regular mesh for your own designs…yes people

NO MORE INVISIPRIMS

once this is mastered shoe creators will be able to make an alpha layer that only covers the deformed mesh of the feet, or completely hides the foot, so that there is no need to have an invisi prim at all ruining pictures or making your leg disappear when you sit and so on.

There are so many more things you will have to navigate around with this viewer, it is daunting, and scary. But if you persevere you will open up many new challenges to yourself, and you could have some amazing fun with it. I mean Imagine hair fair this year as someone with full alpha travels through the fair, no prims needed because no one can see you anyway .

Mwahahahahahaha.

Craving Chocolate
Sasy Scarborough

Furni 1
Furni 2
Furni 3
Furni 4

Mel said the roof made him crave chocolate, for me it would be more like my Savta’s mint tea. The house is a blend of such traditional style with modern technology, don’t we all look at our furniture in RL now and wish it was texture change at a click of a button.

This home is only small from the outside, but inside it is spacious and charming. It has been built using light and reflection to really enhance your experience, and if you are woeful about having the right mix of furniture for such a complete styled home, then they have that covered too. There is furniture available as well, in keeping with the theme. I swear those are just funny shaped E-Cigs :P.

A perfect romantic getaway home, or for a few friends to spend the weekend away, a girls retreat maybe. I had that idea, so the three of me enjoyed the surroundings together. In keeping with the beautiful colours and textures of the build and furniture I went with Miel’s older and newer items. Baring enough skin to show off my tan I would be ready for anything a weekend in a house like this could do for me.

I love that the large walls have a bareness that just screams for pics, either family ones or arty ones. As much as it looks like a getaway I could in fact see making it a permanent home, it has that instant warmth to it that you really need to feel once you purchase a home in SL.

The old world charm of this one definitely has that, NotsoBad are doing an incredible job in beautifying the grid, whether it be a small or large prefab, or just bits and pieces to do up your current home. The textures are rich and vibrant, so taking a spin through their showroom is a must, and LOL the rezzer for their builds is a MUST, nothing like a semi trailer turning up at your front lawn to rez you out a new house.

I am all up and loving the new textures by Exile, although I have to argue that apricots are not that colour in RL, this new release Cassie is going to be a fav for sure, Mel already complimented it, and that’s a bigger bonus for sure. So make sure you go get your sexy hair today too.

Thanks to VR Foundry and the NEW VR Studio Posestand and HUD, I was able to do the pics with ease, they are all me, and only three shots per taken, all of the wonderful functions of the VR Studio make me so confident in doing shoots like this, that is just one of the reasons I love it. The latest update to V3.0 is awesome, I will talk more about that soon – updates are free if you have a previous version .
